I really resonate with this i2 Skills Assessment video explaining the current world of work and the opportunity that innovation is to respond to the change (and VUCA world) we are all experiencing.

The opening of the video sums up our current state:

“Work today isn’t just busy. It’s a nonstop wave of new, new tech, new problems to solve new customers and new teammates, both human and AI alike.

In this kind of world, the skill isn’t having all the answers. It’s knowing how to respond when you don’t.

But most of us were never taught how to work through today’s levels of change and uncertainty, how to listen for what customers will need next, build relationships that move ideas forward, or pivot when the data changes and experiment our way to something entirely new.”

This is our learning and development need now. We need to learn new ways, things we haven’t been taught before. It’s a new mindset and a new skillset. We all need to innovate and need to learn how to do that…since we weren’t really taught that at school or on the job. Our current era demands it.

I’ve done this i2 Skills Assessment myself and have led a group through it too. Starting with assessing yourself is a a good first move to learn to innovate in our new era.

Innovation is for everyone and we need these skills to respond with ideas and action in our change accelerating world of work.
